Who makes nebula filters in-house in The USA for the amateur astronomy community? Answer: Denkmeier Optical! See the transmission curves above on the right of the poster. Our Hi-Def OIII Filter brings out luxurious contrast in gaseous emission nebula. The OIII (bottom curve) is available in 1.25" or 2" formats and works amazingly well in our Denkmeier Filter Switch System available on this website. Our UHC (middle curve) is also available in 1.25" and 2" formats. The UHC has a wider bandpass than the OIII as seen in the transmission curve and allows the hydrogen beta line to pass through. It is know that depending on the property of the emission nebula being observed, an OIII or a UHC may work better. It's advisable to have them both! The Hi-Def Planetary Filter (top curve) that we have designed is a unique dual band filter available in 1.25" format only. This is because planet observation generally occurs on axis at high power with 1.25" eyepieces. This filter is coated differently on each surface and brings out surface features of Mars, Jupiter and Saturn that otherwise might be missed.
Bandwidth of our filters: Note that we provide transmission profiles derived from actual scans of our filters. At the top of the curve diagram, each dot represents 3.333nm. In this way, you can get a true picture of the real bandwidth throughout the transmission range. Just stating that a filter is 11nm is not accurate if ranges of the transmission percentage become wider.
