Adding the Power x Switch to your William Optics Diagonal
In order for us to
convert your William Optics SCT style (thread-on or regular slip in) 2"
star diagonal to Power x Switch operation, we need for you to ship the
diagonal to us. This must be done at our Ocean City Maryland facility.
The Power x Switch will become a permanent part of your diagonal. Remember that your diagonal will still operate as a "normal" 2" star
diagonal with an additional reduction and 2X barlow factor added. Your diagonal will be equipped with the same Power x Switch as our Power x Switch Star Diagonals include, with 37mm clear aperture, fully multi-coated optics of the highest quality.
Single Eyepiece or Binoviewer Usage?
If you plan on
purchasing our binoviewer, you must specify wether the diagonal will ever be used with a Denk Binoviewer. If you do not plan on using a binoviewer now or in the future,
specify single eyepiece usage only by using the dropdown window when adding this item to your shopping cart. What is the difference? If focal
reduction is to be made possible with binoviewer use, the Power x
Switch must be placed on the eyepiece-side of your star diagonal. This allows
a Denk Binoviewer to reach focus in reduction mode when used with most SCTs and many maksutov cassegrains (Questar, Meade, Orion and some others). Single
eyepieces will also focus in reduction mode, but the reduction factor will
not be as extreme when the Power x Switch is located on the
eyepiece-side rather than the telescope-side. With the Power x Switch installed on the telescope-side,
reduction factors and multiplication factors are more extreme but
again, a binoviewer will not reach focus in reduction mode. So, if
single eyepieces are to be used exclusively, choose "Single Eyepiece
Usage". If a binoviewer will be used now or in the future, choose
"Binoviewer Usage". The dropdown windows will be directly below the window where you add the Power x Switch for Williams Optics Diagonals to your shopping cart. Please note that if single eyepieces are used with
the POwer x Switch for binoviewers, the eyepieces may reach greater reduction and
greater multiplication factors by using a 2" extension tube between the eyepiece holder of the diagonal and the eyepiece. These
extension tubes are commonly available through William Optics and other
parts manufacturers.
